CNTO promotes central province of Hubei in India

China National Tourist Office (CNTO) in India in collaboration with the Travel Agents Federation of India - TAFI - organised a promotion seminar in New Delhi, focused on the central province of Hubei, famous for its vibrant culture, nature and technological developments.

Nearly 150 travel agents attended the event where several animations such as a kung fu performances, Chinese medicine demonstrations and tea serving were presented.

“Relations between India and China have been growing and our countries being two important tourism hubs, we are looking forward to have more Indian tourists to visit China mainland and its incredible sites and more Chinese tourists to also discover Incredible India,” Tian Xin, director of China National Tourist Office (CNTO) in India, told India Outbound magazine.



Maldives Tourism conducts first-ever tourism marketeers evening

Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation (MMPRC) hosted a discussion gathering exclusive for the tourism industry marketeers, themed under “Tourism Marketeers Evening”. The first edition of this programme took place on September 10 at Kurumba Maldives.

Tourism marketing professionals representing resorts, guesthouses, liveaboards and travel agencies participated in this event organised by MMPRC. Initiating the programme, Thoyyib Mohamed, managing director of MMPRC spoke on the importance of streamlining MMPRC’s efforts in marketing with that of the industry stakeholders’.

“We hear many expert opinions everyday about the potential for even more types of tourism and products for our industry. Therefore we believe exchange of ideas between the industry professionals will help us better envision our future,” he said while adding that MMPRC is actively strategizing to diversify its marketing efforts. “We are also preparing to market Maldives brand to niche markets such as MICE, Cultural, Sports and Recreational Tourism. These are just few of the many possible paths we can take to diversify our marketing.”

The session was divided into two main components; firstly discussing the marketing efforts by MMPRC thus far in 2019 and secondly exploring and sharing new ideas of marketing by industry marketeers. It was a fruitful discussion where the stakeholders shared numerous enhancements to MMPRC’s current activities and possible activities for the year 2020.

Ras Al Khaimah hits record visitors in August 2019

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) announced record-breaking visitor numbers to Ras Al Khaimah in August 2019, with almost 118,000 visitors choosing the UAE’s northernmost Emirate to visit and enjoy its history, traditions, landscapes and world-class hotels and resorts.

Ras Al Khaimah has witnessed a 5 pc growth in overall visitor arrivals YTD, with the peak reaching 117,995 visitors in August 2019. India has contributed to the number of visitors recorded MTD August 2019 with growth percentages of 13.7 pc.

Raki Philips, CEO of RAKTDA said, “We are extremely proud to announce the record-breaking number of visitors we welcomed to the Emirate in August 2019. Kazakhstan welcomes over 1,200 delegates to PATA Travel Mart 2019

PATA Travel Mart 2019 (PTM 2019), hosted by the ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kazakh Tourism National Company, has attracted over 1,200 delegates from 63 global destinations. The delegate numbers embraced 347 sellers from 180 organisations and 34 destinations, along with 252 buyers from 244 organisations and 48 source markets with first time buyers comprising 44 pc of the total.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) also welcomed 190 local and international students and young tourism professionals. Students from eight local universities in Almaty and Nur-Sultan, as well as from Malaysia, India and Canada were part of the PATA Youth Symposium held on September 18, organised in collaboration with the ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakh Tourism National Company and M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University.

PTM 2019 officially opened in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan on September 18 with the PTM 2019 Welcome Reception, presided by Aktoty Raimkulova, minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Addressing a media briefing on September 19 at Korme Exhibition Center, PATA CEO Mario Hardy said, “This marks the first time that PATA is organizing an event in Central Asia, and our aim is to highlight the unexplored region of Central Asia and particularly Kazakhstan. Unexplored by many, PATA Travel Mart provides the perfect opportunity to showcase this unique destination vast landscapes and beautiful culture and heritage.”

Malaysia to host PATA Adventure Travel Conference and Mart 2020

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) announced that the PATA Adventure Travel Conference and Mart 2020 (ATCM 2020) will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah at Sutera Harbour Resort from February 12-14. The announcement was made by Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof, senior director, Corporate Communication Division - Tourism Malaysia, Noredah Othman, general director - Sabah Tourism Board and Mario Hardy, CEO - PATA during PATA Travel Mart 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

The three-day event will be hosted for first time in Malaysia by Tourism Malaysia in partnership with Sabah Tourism Board and Malaysia Airlines.

PATA ATCM traditionally held in February attract more than 200 delegates from over 25 countries. This three-day event brings together tourism professionals involved in adventure travel and responsible tourism to discuss creating new opportunities for promoting environmental protection and social sustainability within the industry.

“The PATA Adventure Travel Conference and Mart provides an exceptional platform for travel trade professionals to gain deeper insights into adventure travel trends and contribute to creating a more responsible travel and tourism industry,” said PATA CEO Mario Hardy. “This event has enjoyed outstanding success in recent years, and we are delighted to have the opportunity for the first time to focus upon the many opportunities for adventure travel and responsible tourism in Sabah, Malaysia.”
