Turespana promotes tourism in India with unique offers

The Tourism Office of Spain in India (Turespana) organised a press meet at Claridges Hotel in New Delhi to present Spain’s tourism offers for the year. The focus of the offers is on the numerous colourful festivals that the country organises throughout the year. "Some of them are actually very similar to the ones we have in India; like La Mercé that takes place in Barcelona in the month of September and where locals build "castellers" (in Catalan) or human towers, resembling the Dahi Handi of Krishna Janmashtami; there is also the Bonfires of San Juan in Alicante that takes place in June and is similar to the Dussehra festivities we have in India," said Apeksha Dhingra, media-in-charge at the Tourism Office of Spain in Mumbai.

The event also presented the Spanish gastronomy beyond the "tapas" as the participants learnt about and tasted some of the finest wines of Spain. The presentation ended with a fusion dance show of Kathak and Flamenco that showcased a unique connection between India and Spain.

"Spain is definitely a great place for Indians, and we have more and more tourists from India coming to experience the unique culture. We love to celebrate and we love colours, like Indians. The festivals of Tomatina and running of bull are already famous in India, but we have much more to offer, so come and enjoy, live and love Spain!" concluded Miguel Nieto-Sandoval San Segundo, the current director of the Tourism Office of Spain in India who also announced that a new director for India would take over in September.
