Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2019

MIG@PBD

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is celebrated once in every two years to strengthen the engagement of overseas Indian Community with Government of Indian and reconnect them with their origin. During the convention, overseas Indians are recognised for their contributions to various fields both in India and abroad, and they are honoured with prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award. The 15th PBD Convention is being held on January 21-23, 2019 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh with a theme “Role of Indian Diaspora in building New India”.

Ever since Media India Group was launched 14 years ago, we have been working closely with several Goverments and civil society institutions in India and Europe. In India, we work with many key ministries like the Ministry of External Affairs, Commerce & Industry, Urban Development, Tourism, Culture etc. With the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, we enjoy a very close relationship. We organise road shows for the ministries, arrange visits for ministers and senior officials to places like Paris, Guadeloupe, Mauritius etc. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is the biggest gathering of the Indian diaspora and Media India Group has been coordinating with the Ministry of overseas Affairs for past seven years in gathering large number of delegates from the Francophone world and Europe, notably France, Belgium, Mauritius, Reunion, Guadeloupe, Martinique etc.

The government of Uttar Pradesh will also organise the state PBD 2019 on January 21, 2019. FRANCOPHONE EVENING

Since 2010, Media India Group has taken the initiative to conduct a special session during the PBD, aimed at providing an inclusive platform for the delegates from non-English speaking countries, notably the French-speaking parts of the world. In January 2010, the total number of Francophone delegates was about 130 and we had hosted the First Francophone Dinner with the Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, on January 8. Ever since, we have continued this dinner each year and on the same date, in order to provide quality and focused interaction between the ministers and the francophone delegates who are not very comfortable in English.

DIALOGUE WITH INDIA

Besides the Francophone evening, Media India Group has traditionally organised the dialogue with India, in partnership with GOPIO International, which is an umbrella organisation with presence in all major countries of the world. The dialogue with India is essentially a day-long B2B event attended by over 600 delegates and several ministers from India and other countries. This 15th PBD Convention in January 2019, action taken on the recommendation will be presented to PBD delegates for their suggestions and comments.
