CANNES FILM FESTIVAL
72TH FESTIVAL CANNES

The Cannes International Film Festival (French: Le Festival International du Film de Cannes or just Festival de Cannes) is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. Founded in 1946, it is one of the most prestigious and publicised film festivals in the world. The festival has become an important showcase not only for European films but for complete international film industries. Cannes offers an opportunity to determine a particular country's image of its cinema and generally foster the notion that European cinema is "art" cinema. Additionally, given massive media exposure, the non-public festival is attended by many movie stars and is a popular venue for film producers to launch their new films and attempt to sell their works to the distributors who come from all over the globe.

The 72nd Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14-25, 2019 at ‎Cannes, France.

India Pavilion in Cannes

In Cannes International Film Festival, the India Pavilion will showcase Indian cinema across linguistic, cultural and regional diversity, with the aim of forging international partnerships in the realms of distribution, production, script development and technology, and promoting film sales, syndication and filming in India. Besides booking structured B2B meetings for registered Indian delegation with foreign participants, India Pavilion is also responsible for publishing the “India Film Guide” which contains information of Indian film industry professionals visiting Cannes Film Festival or Film Market. Participation in such festivals would help India to increase the popularity that leads India or participating state as a key destination for shooting as well as it will enhance the network of the Indian Cinema and Tourism World Wide.

MIG in Cannes 2018

The 2018 edition of the Cannes Film Festival once again saw India, the largest film producing country in the world come up with only a limited number of entries in what is known as the “Olympics” of cinema. Media India Group was there on the scene and they had discourses with some of the more recognisable faces in parallel Indian cinema such as Prakash Jha and Nandita Das as to why Indian cinema needs to step up its game. Das’s film, Manto got its world premiere in the festival and opinion on the film industry from its director was an eye opener. MIG also had conversations with film critic and professor Rachel Dwyer on the same subject and the different perspectives proved to be as tantalising as it was educational for the readers.
